Against All Odds

I never knew what love was until I became a Mother. I wanted to remarry(preferably happily this time) and become a Mother; however, at the age of 37 I finally gave up as it seemed out of reach and I was also tiring of my friends endless attempts to set me up on some disastrous blind dates! I finally told all my friends that I was very happy with my current life: travelling, working and spending time with my friends and if something happened then it would happen naturally! Up until this point I had not had an ordinary life anyway! I had many challenges good and bad and I always say that life is like a roller coaster ride!

In 2007 I travelled to Lima, Peru to buy fabric, tour manufacturing plants and meet my textile agent. OOPS! I forgot to tell you one rather important detail! After 10 years of working as a Pediatric Special Needs Nurse and providing respite for families with special needs I was finally launching my own company: a line of adaptive clothing for children called Mini-Miracles Children's Clothing. After years of hearing my complaints about modifying clothes one of my friends finally said: Why don't you just start your own line of clothing? So I did just like that and I have to say it was like standing at the edge of a diving board before diving and having some fears, but, in the end just doing it!

I met my future husband for the first time in 2006 as he was hired to be my guide and driver while I was in Peru! We fell in love and it was extremely difficult when I had to fly back home! We decided to just see where the relationship went and take our time since it would have to be a long distance relationship! We got married in Peru on 2007! It took until 2008 before my husband was finally able to join me in Canada and let me tell you it was a long wait!

We never expected that a month after my husband's arrival we would become foster parents to a 2 month old baby with special needs! We thought we would have a couple time first! However, as challenging as it has been we do not regret it! He is part of our family now as he has been with us for 16 months now. We had our own baby girl in 2009 and our family is complete! As I write this our little foster baby is undergoing the struggle of his life as he had brain surgery to remove a tumor and we thought everything was going well until he experienced some postoperative complications. We were in his room when they had to call a Code Blue! It was one of the scariest moments of my life! I prayed that he would live and stay with us as long as possible. He is surviving and thriving against all odds!
